eMarketer recently reported data from the Lightspeed Research Global Web Index on what U.S. Internet users want from your brand.
Top of the list: discounts.
Next up: relevant news and analysis. The key word here: “relevant,” which is in line with every internet guru’s take on content.
This is a great set of options to test to see which one(s) elicit the best response from your readers.

Despite all of the current media hype about using social media, according to eMarketer, “consumers were relatively uninterested in brands that tried to act like their friends.” In a related article, citing survey data from Citibank, Internet2Go and MerchantCircle, eMarketer reported that more than three-quarters of small business executives do not find social media to be an effective source for lead generation and marketing.

Bottom line: focus on the basics and give your readers what they really want. Provide offers and useful information.
